The 2023 Bon Homme County 4-H Achievement Days ended with the Senior and Junior Round Robin Showmanship Contest. Contestants that competed were Seniors Carmindy Ferwerda, Peyton Hellmann, Brock Kotalik, Hayden Talsma and Landon Thury. Juniors were Asher Hellmann, Campbell Mogck, Rilyn Thury and Ethan Wagner. In the Senior Division Brock Kotalik received the Grand Champion award and Carmindy Ferwerda received Reserve Champion. In the Junior Division Rilyn Thury received the Grand Champion award and Campbell Mogck was awarded Reserve Champion.
The fashion show was held in the park on Friday, August 4th. In the Senior Division for Fashion Revue in selected outfits, Brock Kotalik received Grand Champion for his striped shirt and adidas shorts and Elyse Tornsey received Reserve Champion for her Czech Days Kroj. In the Beginner Division for Fashion Revue in selected outfits, Joslyn Kotalik Grand Champion for her mauve and gold dress and Joslyn Kotalik also received Reserve Champion for her striped tank and slacks outfit. Breaw Neth received Grand Champion in the constructed category for her sewn blue romper. In addition, purple ribbons also went to Brock Kotalik, Joslyn Kotalik, Breaw Neth (3) and Sophia Schott. Blue ribbons went to Elyse Torsney and Tarynn Torsney for their constructed pajama pants.
Sophia Schott was awarded the Top Senior Public Presentation award for her very informational demonstration on poultry. Receiving blue ribbons for consumer decision making were Seniors Brock Kotalik, Ty Stepka, Elyse Torsney and Tarynn Torsney. Junior Arryanna Schnetzer and Beginners Joslyn Kotalik and Breaw Neth. Receiving a white ribbon was Ian Torsney and Alyvia Schnetzer received a cloverbud ribbon for participating.

The Swine Show was held Friday, August 4th, with Jeff VanderWal, Howard, as our judge. Overall Grand Champion Breeding Swine was presented to Landon Thury and Overall Reserve Champion Breeding Swine also went to Landon Thury. Breeding Swine purple ribbons went to Brock Kotalik (2), Joslyn Kotalik, Landon Thury (2), Rilyn Thury, Ethan Wagner and Sutton Wagner. A blue ribbon went to Joslyn Kotalik Overall Grand Champion Market Swine was presented to Landon Thury for his York Market Barrow. Overall Reserve Champion was presented to Brock Kotalik for his Hampshire Market Barrow. Grand Champion Purebred Market Swine went to Landon Thury and Reserve Champion Purebred Market Swine went to Brock Kotalik. Grand Champion Commercial Market Swine went to Rilyn Thury and Reserve Champion Commercial Market Swine went to Brock Kotalik. Rate-of-Gain was presented to Brock Kotalik with an average daily gain of 1.61 pounds. Purebred Market Barrow purple ribbons went to Brock Kotalik (2), Joslyn Kotalik, Landon Thury (2), and Rilyn Thury. Purebred Market Gilt purple ribbons went Brock Kotalik, Landon Thury, Rilyn Thury and Ethan Wagner. Commercial Market Barrow purple ribbons went to Brock Kotalik, Rilyn Thury. Commercial Market Gilt purple ribbons went to Joslyn Kotalik (2), Rilyn Thury and Griffin Wagner. Senior Showmanship was presented to Brock Kotalik. Junior Showmanship was awarded to Rilyn Thury and Beginner Showmanship went to Joslyn Kotalik.
BEEF SHOW
Jeff VanderWal, Howard also judged the Beef Shows. Grand Champion Breeding Heifer was presented to Campbell Mogck and Reserve Champion Breeding Heifer also was presented to Campbell Mogck. Breeding Beef purple ribbons went to Carmindy Ferwerda, Brock Kotalik, Joslyn Kotalik and Campbell Mogck (2). Bucket Calf Showmanship in the Senior Division went to Sophia Schott and in the Junior Division went to Max Beran. Grand Champion Market Beef was presented to Addison Haase. Reserve Champion Market Beef was presented to Whitley Wolf. Market Beef purple ribbon winners were Addison Haase (3), Brock Kotalik, Joslyn Kotalik, Colt Wolf and Whitley Wolf Senior Showmanship was presented to Addison Haase. Junior Showmanship was presented to Campbell Mogck. Beginner Showmanship was presented to Whitley Wolf.
COMPANION ANIMAL
We kicked off Saturday, August 5th with Cat/Kitten Showmanship. Dale Knode, Mission Hill judged the show. Rylee Vellek received Grand Champion Showmanship for Companion Animal showing her kitten.
RABBIT SHOW
Judging the Rabbit Show was also Dale Knode, Mission Hill. Grand Champion Rabbit went to Bailey Kemnitz. Reserve Champion Rabbit went to Sophia Schott. Receiving purple ribbons were Maddy Huitema (4), Bailey Kemnitz (2), Sophia Schott (3) and Ian Torsney. Blue ribbons went to Maddy Huitema. Senior Showmanship went to Sophia Schott and Junior Showmanship went to Ian Torsney.
DAIRY GOAT SHOW
The judge of the Dairy Goat show was Martey Stewart, Dixon, Nebraska. Dairy Goat Grand Champion went to Carmindy Ferwerda. A purple ribbon for Dairy Goat went to Carmindy Ferwerda. A blue ribbon also went to Carmindy Ferwerda. Senior Showmanship went to Carmindy Ferwerda.
GOAT SHOW

Reserve Champion also went to Asher Hellmann. Rate-of-Gain was presented to Peyton Hellmann with an average daily gain of .45 pounds. A purple ribbon for Breeding Goat went to Anna Ray and purple ribbons for Market/Meat Goat went to Asher Hellmann (3), Peyton Hellmann (3) and Anna Ray. Senior Showmanship went to Peyton Hellmann and Beginner Showmanship went to Asher Hellmann.

Market Sheep Grand Champion was presented to Reata Stephens and Reserve Champion Market Sheep was presented to Ryder Stephens. Rate-ofGain was presented to Reata Stephens with an average daily gain of .32 pounds. A purple ribbon for Breeding Sheep went to Ryder Stephens and purple ribbons for Market Sheep went to Reata Stephens and Ryder Stephens. Blue ribbons went to Reata Stephens (2). Beginner Showmanship went to Reata Stephens.

Receiving purple ribbons were Max Beran (11), Bailey Kemnitz (2), Hope Kemnitz, Breaw Neth (10), Izaac Richards, Sophia Schott (12) and Tarynn Torsney.
Receiving blue ribbons were Breaw Neth (6), Brody Neth, Izaac Richards and Sophia Schott (9). Red ribbons went to Breaw Neth (3) and Sophia Schott. Grand Champion All Other Poultry was presented to Hope Kemnitz and Reserve Champion All Other Poultry was presented to Bailey Kemnitz. All Other Poultry purple ribbons also went to Bailey Kemnitz, Hope Kemnitz, Brody Neth (2) and Sophia Schott. A blue ribbon went to Brody Neth. Senior Showmanship went to Sophia Schott. Junior Showmanship went to Bailey Kemnitz and Beginner Showmanship went to Breaw Neth.
ROUND ROBIN SHOWMANSHIP
Judging the Round Robin Event were Mark Misar in Beef, Steve Sutera in Dairy Goat, Pat Sutera in Swine, Holly McCann in Goat and Blair Maggs in Horse. Brock Kotalik won Grand Champion in the Senior Round Robin Showmanship Contest. Carmindy Ferwerda won Reserve Champion. Carmindy Ferwerda received Grand Champion for Junior Round Robin Showmanship. Campbell Mogck won Reserve Champion.
PERFORMANCE PROJECT
Performance Project is a compilation of an interview, test and showmanship. The Performance Project awards for the Senior Division were 1st place – Tarynn Torsney, 2nd place Addison Haase and 3rd place Sophia Schott. Junior Division awards were awarded to: 1st place – Arryanna Schnetzer, 2nd place – Ian Torsney and 3rd place – Asher Hellmann. Beginner Division awards were awarded to: 1st place – Breaw Neth and 2nd place – Joslyn Kotalik.
SMALL ANIMAL SKILLATHON
Small Animal Skillathon was new to Achievement Days. It consists of 5 stations: judging a class of poultry, 4-H knowledge, rabbit and poultry breed identification, use of the breed standards and biosecurity. The Small Animal Skillathon awards for the Senior Division were 1st place – Sophia Schott, 2nd place – Maddelyn Huitema and 3rd place – Hope Kemnitz. Junior Division awards went to 1st place – Max Beran, 2nd place Bailey Kemnitz and 3rd place Izaac Richards. The Beginner Division award went to 1st place – Breaw Neth.
