2022 SOUTH DAKOTA REPUBLICAN PARTY CONVENTION

The 2022 South Dakota Republican Party Convention was held on June 23-25, 2022 at Watertown, SD with 687 delegates attending from across the state. Thirteen delegates from Charles Mix represented the people of Charles Mix County. Ivan and Lois Van Dusseldorp attended as the county chairman and vice county chairwoman. Also from Platte, Junior and Cherry Van Dusseldorp attended as state committeeman and state committeewoman. Jeff and Jolene Stewart from Wagner represented Precinct 1. Mark Sip from Geddes represented Precinct 2. Also from Platte David Spier represented Precinct 9, Tom Travis and Trudy Qualm represented Precinct 10, John Steckly represented precinct 11, and Cole Anderson and Lee Qualm were delegates at large.

The SD Republican Platform was reviewed and a few changes were made. Resolutions were discussed and the delegates made decisions to accept or reject each of the resolutions as written.

Constitutional Officer Candidates without opposition were accepted unanimously. The race between Marty Jackley and David Natvig for Attorney General resulted in Jackley winning that competition. Monae Johnson won the race against Steve Barnett to be the nomination for Secretary of State. Larry Rhoden defeated Steve Haaugard to win the nomination of Lieutenant Governor.
