Avon's 18U kicked off their summer season Thursday, June 19 hosting Mt. Vernon Venom 18s in a doubleheader. In game 1 Mt. Vernon took an early 2-1 lead after one inning. Avon came right back and took the lead 4-2 through two frames. Venom 18s was able to tie the game in the top of the sixth but Rilyn Thury came through with a game-winning hit to give Avon a 5-4 victory. Thury led the way with 2 hits and a RBI.
