1000 BOOKS BEFORE KINDERGARTEN

By
Alyssa Mathis

The library offers a unique program open to all children interested that are not of kindergarten age. The program, 1000 books before kindergarten, allows any child to be read 1000 books before they start kindergarten. For each 100 books read, the child gets to pick out a free book at the library to keep. The goal of this program is to help children develop early literacy skills, help them prepare for success in school and to garner a love for reading from an early age. It is a great way for parents and children to bond while also helping their child get prepared for school in a fun way.
