Sybil Irene Hotchkiss, 93, died Monday, April 8, 2019 at Wagner Community Memorial Hospital in Wagner. Funeral service was Monday, April 15 at Pickstown Community Church. Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Lake Andes was in charge of arrangements. Burial was April 16 in Blackhills National Cemetery in Sturgis.

Sybil Irene Hotchkiss was born on May 11, 1925 to Floyd and Inga (Rud) Achenbach in Tripp County. She attended school in Colome and graduated from Winner High School in 1942. She married Donald Hotchkiss on September 8, 1946 in Dallas. They operated a grocery store in Bonesteel for six years, then moved to Picktown in 1955. Sybil worked for the Corp of Engineers where she did the payroll until retiring in 2010. Don died on November 20, 1993. She was a member of Pickstown Community Church and American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, canning, fishing and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons, Jeff Hotchkiss and fiancee, Jenifer Palmer of Pierre and Don Hotchkiss, Jr. and wife, Jan of Freeman, two sisters, Iris Shanard of Sioux Falls and Lynn Bergman and husband, Bernie of Omaha, NE, brother, Allen (Nita) Achenbach of Harrison, AR, seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Darla Lively, sister, Marjorie Pederson, twin infant sisters, Jean and Joan, and grandson, Forrest Hotchkiss.

Memorials would be preferred in lieu of flowers to be directed to Pickstown Community Church.
