SETH FISCHER

Visitation for Seth Fischer, 35, of Wagner was held Thursday at the Peters Funeral Home in Wagner. Public Graveside Services were Friday, July 3 at the ZCBJ Cemetery, rural Wagner. In lieu of flowers, a fund has been established for the benefit of Seth's children at Commercial State Bank.

Seth Andrew Fischer was born May 1, 1985 in Wagner, the son of Missy Fischer and Darryl Petrik. He died Sunday, June 28, 2020 at Wagner Community Memorial Hospital Avera in Wagner, the result of a tragedy at the Missouri River.

Seth attended school in Wagner through the 8th grade before moving to Harrisburg and graduated from Harrisburg High School in 2004. He received a football scholarship at DWU and attended school there for one year and then returned home to Wagner to farm.

Seth married Shannon Heyder on June 11, 2011 at Pop and Nan's house in Wagner. Two children were born to their union, Layton in 2012 and Rainey in 2016.

Seth's first love was sports. He was the first kid in Harrisburg to start at fullback and middle linebacker as a sophomore. He is in the top five all time in rebounding in basketball, and was a great pitcher and catcher. He then substituted sports with racing. He loved to race his #34. He also had a love of farming and hunting. He didn't own a field without a deer stand. Seth was a diehard Chicago Bears fan and he used to say Brian Urlacher was his "brother from another mother". Seth will be remembered for his love for his family. He adored his family and had the biggest, softest heart.

Thankful for having shared his life are his wife Shannon of Wagner and their two children, Layton and Rainey; mother and father Missy Fischer Olson and Reed Olson of Sioux Falls; grandparents Lynn and Sherri Fischer of Wagner; brothers Josh and Bryan Olson of Sioux Falls; uncle, Jeff Fischer (Allison, Hunter, Will Peyton) Spicer, MN, Darryl Petrik of Wagner; sister DaceyAnn Petrik of Pickstown; brother Dawson Petrik of Pickstown; sister, Paige Hakenies; mother-in-law Penny Heyder of Sioux Falls; father-in-law Rick Heyder of Sioux Falls; two sisters-in-law: Tara (Ryan Watts) Heyder of Hartford and Teresa (Matt) Gross of Florida; brother-in-law Kyle (Chelsey Harvey) Heyder of Sioux Falls; special aunt Connie Fischer of Wagner; special uncle David Petrik of Wagner and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
