Due to current health concerns, private funeral services for Ruth Novak, 78, of Wagner were held Monday, December 14 at Peters Funeral Home in Wagner. Burial was in the ZCBJ Cemetery, rural Wagner.

Ruth Ann Novak was born August 13, 1942, the daughter of Rudy and Alice (Soulek) Honomichl. She passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Ruth grew up on a farm south of Ravinia. She attended all of her school years in Ravinia.

Ruth was united in marriage to Leo J. Novak on August 28, 1962 in Wagner. They lived and farmed south of Dante untilthey semi-retired. They both worked at Commercial State Bank in Wagner for 16 years, until fully retiring. They moved into Wagner in 2008.

Ruth will be remembered for her love for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom she loved unconditionally. Ruth’s greatest joy was playing cards with her husband Leo, she especially loved playing Bens Game, Pinochle and Tic, in the morning, noon and night. Ruth also loved sitting outside on the deck.

Ruth was a life long member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

Thankful for having shared her life are her husband Leo of Wagner; two children: Suzette (Bill) Youngstrom of Armour and Terry (Lori) Novak of Hartford; six grandchildren: Megan Youngstrom of Canton, Mindy Novak of San Francisco, CA, Chelsey Youngstrom of Wagner, Eric (Holly) Novak of Sioux Falls, Brianna Youngstrom of Vermillion and Lexie Youngstrom of Armour; one great granddaughter, Aaliyah Youngstrom, daughter of Chelsey; two brothers: Phillip (Brenda) Honomichl of Torrance, CA, and David (Marcia) Honomichl of Wagner; and many relatives and friends.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Rudy and Alice Honomichl, sister Nyla, and an infant daughter.
