Ruth Buchholz, 86, of Tripp, died Saturday, July 29, 2023 at her home in rural Tripp. A Celebration of Ruth’s Life was held Thursday, August 3 at the Danzig Baptist Church in rural Avon. Burial was in the Danzig Baptist Cemetery, rural Avon. Peters Funeral Home in Avon was in charge of arrangements.

Ruth Marie Buchholz was born October 11, 1936, the daughter of August and Laura (Friederick) Hieb of Tripp. Ruth passed away in her home on the family farm southwest of Tripp on July 29, 2023.

Ruth grew up in Tripp, attending school there from kindergarten until she graduated from high school in 1954.Ruthwasagoodstudent and active in music, chorus, and band. In her teen years she sold popcorn at a local theater, was an usher, and ticket-taker at the other theater inTripp.Hersenioryear of high school she worked at the Tripp Creamery every day after school as a book-keeper until she got married.

Ruth met her future husband, Wilbert Buchholz, at the roller skating rink in Tripp. RuthandWilbert“Willie”were married in Tripp, August 28, 1955 and moved to the farm southwest of town where they lived together until Wilbert passed away in 2022.

Ruth was a member of the Danzig Baptist Church. She was very active in the church, serving in many offices. She enjoyed singing in a ladies trio, the choir, and was a member of the WMF for over fifty years.

When Wilbert quit farming, he and Ruth opened an upholstery shop on the farm. They provided entertainment at churchesandnursinghomes. Theydidalotoftravelingand spenttwentyyearswintering at Bibleville in Alamo, TX.

Ruth worked at CR Industries from 1976 in Springfield until she retired in 1984. She enjoyed her hobbies of sewing, raising flowers, gardening, and family genealogy. In her later years she enjoyed reading, doing jigsaw puzzles, and loved a senior meal with a chocolate in Tripp.

Thankful for having shared her life are her son Verlin (LaDonn) Buchholz of Tripp; a grandson Andy (Ashley) Buchholz of Zumbrota, MN; two granddaughters: Larissa (Jordan) Siedel and Kaitlin Buchholz of Rapid City; two beloved great-grandchildren:Annetta and Benji; one nephew and four nieces.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents August and Laura; sisters: Florence and Lois Hieb; and husband Wilbert.
