Private funeral services for Ronald Dean Bambas, 75, of Ravinia will be held Thursday, June 18 at 10 a.m., at the Peters Funeral Home in Wagner. The public may join in procession to the burial at the Pleasant Lawn Cemetery in Geddes. Public visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ronald Dean Bambas was born May 18, 1945 to Tony and Christine (Peterson) Bambas in Wagner. He died Sunday, June 14, 2020 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Wagner.

Dean married Linda Rae Rolston on July 8, 1969 in Lake Andes. Together they had three daughters: Tina Louise (stillborn), Lynn Ann and Terri Lynn.

Dean started working at a very young age setting up pins at the Lake Andes bowling alley. He had various jobs throughout his life having worked for Cargill many years, maintenance and driving truck for the pork plant, and as a truck driver for several years for both Wally Payer and Dick Hakl. Dean then worked for the Charles Mix County Conservation District for 20 years, retiring in 2010. He also helped his wife Linda, the mayor of Ravinia, take care of the city of Ravinia for many years.

Dean will be remembered for his love of driving around the lake and river, watching westerns and reading Louis Lamour books. He especially loved vacationing in Alaska.

Dean is survived by his wife Linda Bambas; daughters: Lynn (Mike) Novak of Wagner and Terri Bambas (Jeremy Eldridge) of Ravinia; seven grandchildren: Daniel Novak, Derek (Katie) Novak, Danieka Novak (fiance’ Trey), Michaela Novak, Tanner Novak, DiMera Dvorak (fiance’ Aaron) and Draea Dvorak; great granddaughter Kaylee Marie Novak; and his uncle Jerry (Arlene) Bambas of Lake Andes.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-laws, grandparents, daughter Tina and his uncles and aunts.
