ROBERT 'BOB' FILIPEK

Robert “Bob” Filipek was born April 14, 1955, the son of William “Bill” ad Dorothy ( McGuire) Filipek. He passed away on September 1, 2024, at ProMedica Hospital in Monroe, MI.

A memorial mass will be held in Wagner at St. John’s Catholic Church on August 9, at 10 a.m., with Father Jim Friedrich officiating. Burial will follow at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery.

Bob attended school in Wagner until 1968, when the family moved to Roseville, CA. Bob completed his education at Oakmont High School and Sierra Community College. He worked at a local service station and served as caretaker for his mother.

In April 2000, Bob was injured on the job, resulting in the loss of both legs. In 2002, he moved to Monroe, MI, to be with his sister and her family.

He is survived by his sister, JoAnn Bowler; niece, Michelle Shonessy; nephew, William Bowler; family members: Kristin, Emma and Ethan Bowler; Jeanette Cocke; his aunt, Florence McGuire; and many cousins.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother and his brother-in-law.
