Ray Chris Cuny, Jr., 53, of Lake Andes died Thursday, October 11, 2018 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Wagner. Wake services began Friday at the White Swan Community Center in Lake Andes. Funeral services were Sunday at the Community Center. Burial was in the Episcopal Cemetery in Crow Creek. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Chris was born in Cheyenne, WY to Catherine Fleury and Ray Cuny, Sr. He graduated from high school in Colorado, then served in the US Navy from 1983-87. He moved to Rapid City and met his life partner Valerie Jo Habben. Together they had five beautiful daughters: Stephanie Jo, Chelsey Raquel, Alexis Rayne, Crystal Maye and O’liveyah Grace (Trinity Thin Elk); through Stephanie he has five grandchildren: Tomerrah, Ramil, Dayton, Nijah and Christina, through O”liveyah he has two grandchildren: Ivy and Elliot.

Chris will always be remembered for his sense of humor and kind heart. He could get anyone laughing in good and bad times. He can also be remembered for his unbreakable sense of family. He was a stand-in-father for his nieces and nephews or any other child that needed his attention. He was there for them.

Thankful for him being there in their life are Christina Allery, Rebekah Habben, Jessica Tschumper, Charles Habben (deceased), Melissa VanderPol, James Tschumper, Chelsea Kiyukan and Tessa Joseph (deceased). His love got them through hard times. His father Ray Chris Cuny Sr., his sisters: Candace and Stacy Winters and brother Terry Cuny are also thankful for him and will always have unconditional love for him.

He was preceded in death by his mother Catherine Fluery, his brothers Dennis Fluery, Robert Cuny, Jeff Cuny and Vince Mesteth; and his hunka daughter Tessa Joseph.
