Puddy died Friday, October 14, 2022 at his home in Wagner under hospice care, surrounded by his family. Funeral services were 10:30 AM, Monday, October 17, 2022 at the National Guard Armory in Wagner, with mili-tary honors. Wake services were at 7 PM on Saturday and Sunday at the Armory. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Earl “Puddy” Frederick Jr. was born to Earl D Frederick Sr. and Myrtle St. Pierre in Greenwood, SD on February 8, 1949. Puddy attended Wahehe 83 in Greenwood until the eighth grade. He then went to Flandreau Indian School where he graduated.

Puddy met Eunice and they united in marriage on March 20, 1978. They had four children together: Earl Frederick III, Dorothy Frederick, Gregg Frederick and Brenna Picotte, all of Wagner.

Puddy also has four more children: Shannon Hidalgo of Utah, Isnana Waste Win of Wagner, Christopher Drapeau of Mission and Nicholas Frederick of Wagner. He remarried to Cecily Provost in July of 1996. Puddy served in the US Army, was an EMT and had numerous other jobs. He was a jack of all trades. He had a sense of humor and was always full of jokes. Puddy was such a strong man. Nobody knew he battled cancer for as long as he did, he showed no pain.

Puddy enjoyed playing softball, baseball, darts, bowling and other sports. He was one of the Marty Renegades legends and will always be remembered by his fellow baseball, dart and bowling legends. He also enjoyed being out in the open with family and friends.

Puddy is preceded in death by his grandparents Julia Ashes St. Pierre and Lawrence St. Pierre, his parents, sister Arnita, brothers Russell, Randall and Perry, granddaughter MaKenzie and great-grandson Brycen.
