A Celebration of Mike’s Life will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, November 4 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Tyndall. Peters Funeral Chapel in Avon is in charge of arrangements.

Michael Terry Rokusek was born February 3, 1964 at St. Michael’s Hospital in Tyndall, the son of Wilbert and Evelyn (Raabe) Rokusek. He died Friday, October 29 at St. Michael’s Hospital in Tyndall after a four year battle with cancer, at the age of 57. His wife Lisa and sister Kay were there by his side when he passed on.

Mike was in the last class to graduate of the Tyndall-Tabor Panthers in 1982. He then attended Mitchell Vo-Tech for two years for auto mechanics.

Mike was united in marriage to Lisa Bertsch at the City Park in Avon on September 4th 1992. He worked at Champion Auto in Yankton for over 20 years until it closed. He then worked for Tyndall Napa for several years and worked at Tyndall Motors until his health no longer allowed him to work.

Mike was affectionately known as “Koos”. He will be remembered for his love of bass fishing and working on cars, especially his 1970 Chevelle and his 1955 Chevy, both in his favorite color, blue. He was an avid collector of unique items. Mike was also very technologically savvy and was very good at fixing computers.

Thankful for having shared his life are his wife Lisa of Tyndall, two brothers: Larry of Minneapolis, MN and Wilmer of Sioux Falls; two sisters: Sharon Hetzel of Tyndall and Kay (Wayne) Kniffen of Springfield; father-in-law Ludwig Bertsch of Avon; brother-in-law Lewis (Michelle) Bertsch of Tyndall; and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, mother-in-law Sharon Bertsch, brother Curtis, sister Diane Rokusek, sister-in-law Linda Rokusek, nephew Joshua Langley, great niece Josie Van Duysen and great nephew Mikey Van Duysen.
