FuneralservicesforMary Halsey, 94, of Springfield will be held Wednesday, November 1 at 11 a.m. at the United Church of Christ in Springfield. Burial will be in the Springfield Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 31 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Peters Funeral Chapel in Springfield.

Mary Loree Halsey, daughter of Mark and Alta Walker was born December 1, 1928 at the home of an aunt near Pierce, NE. Returning home to a farm near Vetal, she attended Peck Country School and three years at BennettCountyHighSchool, Martin, graduating from Springfield High School in 1946. She attended Southern State College at Springfield and taught in rural schools in Bennett and Bon Homme Counties for three years. Mary married Ronald Halsey September 5, 1948 at Tyndall.

As well as assisting Ron on thefarm,shewasasecretaryat USD/S for 14 years. When they retired from farming, she became acropinsuranceadjuster along with her husband. Mary enjoyed family, friends, traveling andcountrymusic.Shewas a member of the UCC Church inSpringfieldandpastmember of the Order of Eastern Star.

Mary died October 24, 2023 at Prairie Healthcare Nursing Home in Woonsocket. She is survived by her son Gene (Karen) Halsey of Huron, daughters: Lynne (Lad) Kocer of Gering, NE and Amy Halsey of Lander WY; seven grandchildren: Kris Halsey, Travis (Rachel) Halsey, Amanda Halsey and fiance Tanner Stoops, Laurie (Clint) Davis, Sara (Bryan) Schwartz, Adam (Niki) Kocer, and Laine Halsey;greatgrandchildren: Lydia,Simeon,Lucas,Berea, McKinlee, Cash, Anniston, Emersyn, and Kaylor; and one brother-in-law Kenneth (Erin) Halsey.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Ron, three brothers, and three sisters.
