Mary Ann Kasal, 90, of Wagner, died Friday, April 26, 2024 at the Good Samaritan Society in Tyndall. Funeral services are Thursday, May 2 at 10:30 a.m., at the Assumption Catholic Church in Dante. Burial is in the ZCBJ Cemetery rural Wagner following the funeral service and meal. Visitation is Wednesday, May 1 from 5-7 p.m. with a Rosary/Scripture Wake service at 7 p.m. at the church. Peters Funeral Home of Wagner is in charge of arrangements. Mary Ann Kasal was born May 19, 1933 in rural Tyndall, to Stanley and Tillie (Bartunek) Vellek. She attended Vellek District 12 School and graduated from Bon Homme High School. Mary Ann died April 26, 2024 at the Good Samaritan Society in Tyndall. Mary Ann worked at the Tyndall Bakery before her marriage to Joseph Kasal Jr. They were married February 9, 1955 in the Tyndall Methodist Church. She and Joey farmed south east of Wagner until her husbands passing in December of 1976. She then remained on the farm until she entered the Good Samaritan Society in Tyndall in 2015. She was a secretary of ZCBJ Lodge of Wagner where she was a member for over 50 years. She loved her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, baking kolaches, raising a garden and canning the fruits and vegetables. She also enjoyed raising ducks and chickens. She is survived by her two daughters Josie (Martin) Rezac and Mary Kay (Ernie) Rezac both of Dante; six grandchildren: Phillip Rezac, Paul Rezac, Nickolas Rezac, Nathan Rezac, Elizabeth M. Ibwe, Victoria A. Rezac; two great-grandchildren Sklyar and Jakson Rezac; and brother-in-law Arthur Huber. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Kasal Jr. in December of 1976; two sisters Rose Soukup and Hattie Huber; her parents Stanley and Tillie; mother and father-in-law Joseph Sr. and Josephine (Ober) Kasal; and brother-in-law Richard Soukup.
