Services for Marlene Beck were held December 21 at Clausen Funeral Home in Burke, interment followed at Herrick Cemetery. Marlene Mavis Beck was born April 11, 1952 at Wagner to Ulysses and Sybil (Brown Bear) Iron Hawk. She died December 16, 2021 at the Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell at the age of 69 years. She was a very loving, caring and kind mom, grandma and friend. She will be greatly missed and was loved by so many.

Marlene grew up in Marty. She attended Marty Indian School. She married Leonard Paul Ulrich and they had three sons: Rudy, Herman and Edward. She later married Eugene Beck.

Marlene loved to be outside. She enjoyed watching her boys and grandchildren fish. She loved to visit on the phone and made sure to call you every morning to make sure you were up. She enjoyed going for car rides with her granddaughters to go shopping or rummaging. Her door was always open to anyone who needed help. She was always doing house work to maintain a clean home. She always had a story to tell and her favorite topic was her family.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents Ulysses and Sybil Iron Hawk; her brothers Vernell, Nathan, Larry, Faron and Harold; her sisters Rolla Faye Iron Hawk, Edith Mallory and her twin Eileen, Sharon the twin of Faron, Marcella Cournoyer (Iron Hawk) and her granddaughter Ashley Ulrich.

Marlene is survived by her three sons Rudolph of Lake Andes; Herman (Roberta) Wagner and Edward (Candace) Herrick; Takoja’s Lit Rude, Rainah, Rueben, Enessa, Britteny, Danielle, John, Cliff, Logan, Paul, Saigon, Julia, Anthony, Megan, Jacob, Miranda, Edward, Samuel and Grace; Great-Takoja’s Brock, Boden, Braeson, Kyler, Kaydan and Keviana.
