MARK YOST

Mark "Hoss" Yost, 61, of Sioux Falls, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Sioux Falls. Memorial visitation with family present was Friday, September 18 at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory, Sioux Falls. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family for Mark's grandchildren.

To know Mark was to love him.

Mark Allen Yost, grew up in Avon, with his three brothers and three sisters. Mark has been a “jokester” since a young age. He was very close with his siblings and talked often about the chats he would have with them. He liked to talk about the “good ol’ days” of going out with his younger brother, Martin. He had such a big personality and loved to make other laugh. Mark was a big “meat” guy! He owned a meat locker in Wagner while living there and then worked at Western Locker for many years after moving to Sioux Falls with his sons. Once he left Western Locker, he worked part-time in the meat department at HyVee until 2018. Mark was a family man. He lived and breathed for his six grandchildren. His eldest grandson, Wrigley Yost, was his best friend and “Papa” was Wrigley’s best friend as well. Mark’s other best friend was his dog, Brooks. They enjoyed many a daily walk together.

Grateful for having shared his life are his sons, Samuel (Mackenzie) Yost and Taylor (Alex Johnson) Yost both of Sioux Falls; grandchildren, Wrigley Yost, Connor Yost, Adalynn Yost, Lennon Yost, Carson Miner and Elijah Miner. He is already greatly missed by his siblings, Mike (Leda) Yost of Redfield, Marvin (Kris) Yost of Chesterfield Township, MI, Monica VonSeggern of Elk Point, Melonie (Jeff) Juffer of Wagner, and Martin (Stephanie) Yost of Sturgis; and brother-in-law, Scott Knickman of Sikeston, MO. He was also greatly loved by many nieces and nephews that referred to him as “Uncle Hoss”.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Herb and Sharon Yost as well as his sister, Michele Knickman.
