MARILYN DRAPPEAUX

Marilyn died Saturday, January 22, 2022 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Wagner. Memorial services will be scheduled at a later date due to safety concerns. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner is in charge of arrangements.

Marilyn was born at the Indian Health Service Hospital in Wagner, South Dakota to Carl George Drapeau and LaVina (Gassman) Drapeau.

She grew up in the Lake Andes area and was a member of the Yankton Sioux Tribe. She attended Lake Andes Public School, St. Mary's School in Springfield, Flandreau Indian School and completed the 11th grade at Todd County in Mission.

She married Emery Irving at a young age and was mostly a stay-at-home mom.

Marilyn enjoyed cooking, cleaning, reading western and mystery books, playing cards and quilting.

She had seven children including: Karen Rae Irving of Worthington, MN, Lynn (Shirley) Horn of Mattoon, IL, Patty of Sioux Falls and two children (Caroline Ruth and Alex) whose whereabouts are currently unknown; her two sons: David Irving Sr and Emery Timothy Jr. (Buddy) are deceased.

Along with her daughters, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she leaves behind her sisters: Sharon Drapeau, Faith Spotted Eagle and Donna Mae Houseman of Lake Andes, Judith Kalkowski of Good Samaritan Center in Wagner; her special friend Sam at Good Samaritan and many relatives and friends.

She is now reunited with her parents, grandparents, two sons, four brothers and two sisters as well as all those relatives and friends who have preceded her.
