LUCILLE BURES

LUCILLE BURES

A private family memorial service for Lucille Bures, 90, will be held at a later date. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner is in charge of arrangements.

Lucille Bures, daughter of Edwin and Emma (Schmoll) Arneson, was born November 19, 1929 at home in Avon. Lucille excelled in debate and graduated from Tyndall High School in 1947. She married Vernon Bures of Wagner at Lawton, OK in 1951. Four children were blessed to their union.

Lucille's first job was at the Tyndall bakery and, while in California waiting for Vernon's return from Korea, she worked at a dairy company in Redding, CA. After several years of being a farm wife, she worked in an attorney's office and later for the SD Department of Social Services in Lake Andes. Retiring after 25 years with the SD DSS, she quickly became bored and dealt cards at the Fort Randall Casino for ten years. She was noted for trying to pass her deal when playing cards with family!

From 1956 Lucy lived at the farm near Pickstown, until entering the Good Samaritan Center in Wagner on March 2, 2015. Lucy was a prolific reader who also enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins, playing cards and in her earlier years traveling, fishing, bingo, bowling and dancing.

Lucille passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at the Wagner Community Memorial Hospital.
