LOIS LOPEZ

Lois Marie (Johnson) Lopez was born on January 3, 1958 in Wagner, to Millicent Johnson and Calvin Blaine. She died Friday, April 25, at her home in Vermillion.
Lois’s life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family. In her early years she played a crucial role in raising her siblings, advocating fiercely to keep them together when they were later placed in Todd County Boarding School. Becoming a single mother in 1974 while living in Fort Dodge, IA, Lois returned to the reservation in Wagner in 1975, where she built her family. With determination and drive she earned a degree in Interior Design from Mitchell Vo-tech in 1989.
Her caring nature extended beyond her own children leading her to become a certifi ed foster parent. For many years she brought joy to those around her while working as a receptionist in Tours. She was a cherished presence to both colleagues and visitors.
Lois had a passion for the simple pleasures. She found joy in her plants and gardening, had a flair for decorating, enjoyed the excitement of bingo, bowling, listening to the oldies while cleaning, camping trips and move all, spending time with her beloved grandchildren brought her immense happiness.
She was known for her big heart, vibrant personality, fun laughter and her playful teasing with family and friends. Lois is lovingly remembered by her children: Tamra Johnson, Stephanie Vargas, Nicole Soriano-Bravo, Jancita Colindres, Alfred EagleDeer, Jolene Jandreau (Greger) and Sabra Greger. Lois is also survived by her siblings: Virgil Johnson, Lydia Victoria Blaine.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, and Siblings: Harold, Wilbur, Richard, Ila, Howie and Edla.
