Funeral services for Lloyd C. Houseman, 76, of Lake Andes were Monday, December 23 at the First Lutheran Church in Lake Andes. Burial was in the Lake View Cemetery in Lake Andes. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Lloyd Charles Houseman was born to Lloyd D. and Kathryn Houseman on a farm north of Lake Andes on August 20, 1943. He died Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Lloyd attended country school until the 8th grade and graduated from Lake Andes High School in 1961. Lloyd married Evelyn Harris, his high school sweetheart and lifelong love on May 27, 1961. From that union Lloyd and Evelyn were blessed with four daughters: Kathryn, Laura Jean, Charlotte and Debbra.

Lloyd worked at the L.A. Coop for 38 years until retiring in 2008. He was member of the Lake Andes Fire Department for 25 years and served two terms as Fire Chief and also served on the city council in the seventies.

Lloyd loved the outdoors, he enjoyed fishing, hunting pheasants, geese and spending time at Deer Camp with the boys. He loved sitting in his garage enjoying a drink, visiting family and friends watching the grandkids play and telling a good story.

Lloyd is survived by his wife of 58 years Evelyn Houseman; daughters: Kathryn and husband Jay Robertson, Laura Jean Houseman and special friend Dale Coenen, Charlotte Houseman and special friend Pete Blaine, and Debbra Houseman; four brothers: Dennis and wife Diane Houseman, Johnny Houseman, Roger and wife Donna Houseman, Jimmy Dean and wife Marcy Houseman; and one sister Deanna Houseman; 13 grandchildren: Jason Robertson, Julianna Erfman, Jessica Johanneson, Leo Hopkins, Charles Hopkins, Tanner Houseman, Deanna Jean Houseman, Austin Blaine, Chere-as Houseman, Stephen Cournoyer, Gabe Cournoyer, Zach Cournoyer and Riley Houseman; and 28 great grandchildren.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd D. and Kathryn Houseman, one brother Gary Houseman and one grandson Chase Houseman.

Lloyd will be forever remembered for his love of his family.
