Funeral Mass for Lillian Clemens, 94, of Wagner was Tuesday, May 14 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Wagner. Burial was in the parish cemetery, rural Wagner. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Lillian Clemens was born July 7, 1924, near Kaylor, the fifth child of William P. and Louisa (Rueb) Kreeger. She died Friday, May 10, 2019 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Wagner.

Lillian’s family later moved to Wagner. On November 4, 1940 she married the love of her life, John P. Clemens. They made their home northwest of Wagner, farming for 30 years and raising their eight children.

In her later years, she worked for the Good Samaritan Center and the Wagner Community Memorial Hospital.

John passed away in 1983 and Lillian moved into Wagner in 1990.

Lillian will be remembered for making the best homemade bread.

Grateful for having shared her life are her children: Arlene (Jerry) Bambas of Lake Andes, James, Dennis (Barb) and Richard (Linda), all of Wagner, Mary (Don) Peacock of Brookings and Marsha (Allen) Tuschen of Mitchell; daughter-in-law Roberta Clemens of Sioux Falls; son-in-law Robert Hegdahl of Yankton; many grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren; brother Walter Kreeger of NE; and many nieces and nephews.

Lillian was preceded in death by her husband John in 1983; daughter Kathleen Hegdahl; son Robert J. Clemens; three brothers; three sisters; one great grandchild and many in-laws.
