Funeral Mass for Josephine Koupal, 97, of Dante was Friday, May 17 at the Assumption Catholic Church in Dante. Burial was in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, rural Wagner. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Josephine Helen Koupal was born May 28, 1921 on farm near Dante, the daughter of James and Tillie (Zacharias) Kodes. She died Sunday, May 12, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Society in Wagner. Josephine attained the age of 97 years, 11 months and 14 days.

Josephine was united in marriage to William “Bill” Koupal and together they farmed south of Dante. She entered the Good Samaritan Center on March 21, 2014.

Josephine was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Marty, Kateri Tekakwitha Circle and the Assumption Catholic Church in Dante.

Josephine will be remembered for her love of nature, working in her vegetable and flower garden and doing needle work. She also loved going with her sister to church bazaars and auction sales so that she could visit with people.

Thankful for having shared her life are her son James Koupal and Pat Hageman of St. Paul, MN; nephew Gary and wife Anna Uchytil and their son Adam and wife Julie Uchytil of Wagner, all of Wagner; sister-in-law Elsie Bromert of Wagner; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother Joe Kodes.
