Wake services for Joseph Howard, Jr., 30, of Wagner began Sunday at the White Swan Community Center in Lake Andes. Funeral services were Tuesday, June 2 at the Community Center. Burial was in the Holy Fellowship Episcopal Cemetery, rural Greenwood. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Joseph Roderick Howard Jr. was born October 24, 1989 in Meridian, Mississippi, the son of Joseph R. Howard Sr. and Madonna (Blaine) Howard. He was their only son. Joseph died Saturday, May 30, 2020 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Wagner.

Joe Jr. spent all of his childhood in Meridian, MS until he moved to Farmington, NM in 2004. Growing up, he participated in baseball and basketball.

Joe Jr. met the love of his life Mychal Grant in July of 2005 in Bloomfield, NM. Together they were blessed with three children: Takoda - 12 years, Emily - eight and Mikayla - seven.

He obtained his GED in Farmington, NM and went on to attend San Juan College for Diesel Mechanics.

Joe Jr. loved music, fishing and enjoyed playing video games, especially with his son Koda. He loved his children very much. Joe Jr. will be truly missed.

He leaves to mourn his children, his mother Madonna of Wagner; one sister Marisa Howard of Meridian, MS; one nephew Chaska Blain Howard of Dulce, NM; his companion of 15 years, Michael of Wagner; and numerous grandparents, aunties, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Roderick Howard Sr., grandparents Albert and Emily Howard, Clement Blaine and Mary (Selwyn) Blaine, uncles: Albert Howard Jr., Jesse Johnson and aunt Roxanne Conger Greger.
