Joseph Bruguier, 38, of Lake Andes died peacefully on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, from a lifelong illness. Wake services will be Thursday and Friday at the YST Community Center Gym in Wagner. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 11 at the Gym. Burial is in the Holy Fellowship Episcopal Cemetery, rural Greenwood.

Joseph Edward Bruguier was born in Sioux Falls on December 3, 1981, the son of the late James Edward Bruguier and Brenda Lee Dion-Williams.

Joe spent the majority of his youth growing up in Rapid City, Sioux Falls and around the Ihanktowan Indian Reservation. He went through life with a constant smile on his face and had a great sense of humor with all of his closest friends and family. He loved to play basketball and ping pong. He loved watching football, with the Indianapolis Colts as his favorite team. He loved to cook and learn new dishes by watching any and all cooking shows.

Joe is survived by his mother, Brenda Lee Dion-Williams, four children: Joe Lynn, Tobias James, Ayva Nicole and Treyson Raymond Zephier; four siblings: Mahlon Lyle Bruguier Sr., James Lee Bruguier, Ryan Tyler Bruguier and Allan Fischer; numerous nieces and nephews, family and friends. He also represented a brotherhood which stood for Native American culture and rights.
