JONAS HAUCK

Funeral services for Jonas Hauck, 88, of Tyndall were Saturday, January 26 at the First Presbyterian Church in Avon. Burial was in the Trinity Presbyterian Cemetery, rural Avon. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Chapel in Avon was in charge of arrangements.

Jonas S. Hauck was born at home west of Tyndall on the family farm on December 2, 1930, the son of Samuel and Emelia Hauck. He died Monday, January 21, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Society in Tyndall. Jonas attained the age of 88 years and 19 days.

Jonas attended the Hauck Country School and finished school at the Radack Country School, graduating from the eighth grade. He then helped on the family farm with his dad and two brothers, Raymond and Robert.

Jonas married Marlene Dyke at her parent’s home on March 27, 1958. Together they farmed northeast of Avon, where he raised row crops, hogs, cattle and chickens. Two children were born to their union. They enjoyed a trip to Holland to visit Marlene’s ancestors. Marlene died April 2, 1996. He retired shortly after Marlene died. In 1997, Jonas traveled to Odessa, Russia to his ancestor’s homeland. Jonas married Carol Gall on February 14, 2001 in Tyndall. They enjoyed traveling and saw all 50 states, and made trips to Mexico and Canada. They went on tours to Czechoslovakia, Germany, Austria and Switzerland. They also enjoyed cruises to Alaska and the Panama Canal. Jonas will also be remembered for his enjoyment of fishing, lawn care, and the Kaylor Opry.

Jonas was confirmed in the Frieden’s Reformed Church in Tripp. He later joined the Trinity Presbyterian Church in Avon, where he served as a trustee, served on the cemetery board and mowed the cemetery. He became a member of the First Presbyterian Church after Trinity closed. Jonas was also a board member of the Farmer’s Coop Elevator Board in Avon for nine years.

Thankful for having shared his life are his wife Carol of Tyndall; son Ken (Darlene) Hauck of Avon; daughter Karen (Steve) Krcil of Wagner; four step children: Lori (Roger) Pietz of Scotland, Jeff (JoEllen) Gall of Omaha, NE, Terry (LaVonne) Gall of Tyndall, and Greg Gall of Clayton, NC; six grandchildren: Kendra Hauck and fiance’ Devon Russell, Ryan Hauck and fiancée’ Molly Kennedy, Trevor (Kendra) Krcil, Jordan (Amber) Krcil, Vanessa Krcil and Britney Krcil; 11 step grandchildren; four great grandchildren; 10 step great grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law: Maureen Vellek of Menno and Alberta Bender of Yankton.

Jonas was preceded in death by his wife Marlene, parents; three brothers: Raymond, Robert, and Arthur in infancy; sister Albina (Ray) Klasi; and sisters-in-law, Margene Westergaard and Wilma Hauck.
