John Bruguier, 60, of Marty, died Friday, May 27, 2022 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton. Funeral services were Wednesday, June 1 at the Ihanktonwan Community Center in Marty. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

John Bruguier was born in Tyndall to his parents Melvin Bruguier and Evangeline Lorraine (LeClaire) Bruguier on September 10, 1961. He attend Marty Indian School. He had worked as a woodcutter for the YST in Greenwood and also at the Fort Randall Casino.

John loved music. His favorite song was Prop Me Up Beside The Jukebox by Joe Diffie. He was a fan of the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Vikings. He played baseball and had participated in gymnastics in high school.

John loved spending time with family.If you didn’t have a sense of humor he’d get a kick out of making fun of you. He especially loved spending time with his grand babies. He always said as long as they were smiling, Papa will be smiling.

Thankful for having shared his life are his children: Michael, Douglas, John and Danny (mother-Lorraine); Cody, Lawrence and Sheila (mother-Georgia Lynn); Brandon (mother-Sheri); Joshua Dean, Johnnie Jean and Jenna Marie (mother-Jean) grand babies: Josiah Owen Horned Eagle Blue Arm and Jasmine, Jacee and Julianna Jae, Devon James, Danny, Miles Terry, Sincere, Lawrence, Michael, Mikey Jr., Corvin Adrial, Douglas Brigette, Dougie Jr., Lorraine Mia, wife Jolynn, John, Sheila, Cayden, Kaylene, Cody Jr., Kayonna and Cheyenne; sisters: Mellisa, Elizabeth, Kathy and Tammy; brothers: Stuart and Ambrose.

John is preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Evangeline; brothers: Melvin, David and Morris; sisters: Anita, Ruth, Julia and Marcella.
