JEAN ARCHAMBEAU

Jean Archambeau, 72, of Wagner, died Friday, May 23 at the Mayo Clinic Hospital, Methodist Campus, in Rochester, MN.
Burial was in the Holy Fellowship Episcopal Cemetery, rural Greenwood. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner is in charge of arrangements.
Jean Elizabeth Archambeau was born on July 12, 1952 in Wagner, SD. The daughter of Clarence “Chuck” and Ramona (Provost) Archambeau. She has four siblings: Clarence “Sonny”, Jim Bruguier, Francis and Alice Archambeau. She attended Flandreau Indian School and Mitchell Technical Institute, where she obtained her Associate’s degree in Accounting.
She worked with BIA and IHS for many years until her passing. She was instrumental as a community leader in establishing the Boys & Girls Club of the Missouri River Area to serve youth in Wagner and Marty, SD. Jeanie served on many Yankton Sioux Tribal boards, always striving to improve the lives of community members. She served as Vice-Chairman, Administrative Officer and Land Buy-Back Director for the Yankton Sioux Tribe.
Jeanie enjoyed playing board games, visiting her family and friends. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Grateful for having shared Jeanie’s life are her children: Leah Azure (Bemidji, MN), David Azure Jr. (Aberdeen, SD) and Mark Azure (Aberdeen, SD); sibilings: Francis Archambeau (Langford) and Alice Archambeau (Wagner); along with many nieces and nephews.
Jeanie is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Erica Azure, son Faron Doney and brother Clarence (Sonny) Archambeau.
Her life was a testament to resilience. Through every challenge she led with grace, strength and a fierce love for her family and people. Her laughter lifted spirits, her wisdom guided many, and her leadership inspired lasting change.
