Funeral services for Javon Ehrismann, 97, of Wagner were held Wednesday, August 17 at the United Methodist Church in Wagner. Burial was in the ZCBJ Cemetery, rural Wagner. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Javon Audrey (Smith) Ehrismann was born March 13, 1925, in rural Wagner, the daughter of Mike and Verna (Mach) Smith. She attended country school in Ree township and graduated from Ravinia High School in 1943. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Southern State Teachers College in Springfield, in 1968.

Javon was united in marriage to Royal Ehrismann on October 16, 1944, at the United Methodist Church parsonage in Wagner. Two sons, Mark and Randy, and a daughter, Karen, were born to this union. Royal and Javon farmed south of Marty. Javon’s career as a schoolteacher spanned two generations, teaching first in rural schools for several years and then in Lake Andes for 24 years. They both retired in 1987 and moved to Wagner.

Javon was a lifelong member of the Wagner United Methodist Church and was very active over the years in UMW and other church activities. She was also a Life Member of VFW Auxillary. She enjoyed quilting, crafting, and raising flowers. She was an avid reader. Royal and Javon were active in a monthly card club as well as square dancing. In their retirement, they traveled to many different parts of the US as well as Mexico.

Royal passed away on October 8, 2015. Javon moved to Prairie Villa Assisted Living in Armour in February 2016. She enjoyed her time there with the other residents and staff as well as visits from family, especially her great-grandchildren. She moved to Avera Borman Manor in Parkston, in July 2022, and passed away on August 14, 2022, at the age of 97.

She is survived by her daughter Karen Wiechmann and husband Don of Wagne; daughter- in-law Joan Ehrismann of Colstrip, MT; grandson Aaron Wiechmann and wife Gretchen of Harrisburg; granddaughter Donnelle Hoffman and husband Nick of Armour; grandson Joshua Ehrismann and wife Claire of TX; grandson Jeff Ehrismann and wife Nicole of Omaha, NE; great-grandchildren: Nicolette, Alexis, and Cade Hoffman; Faith and Anna Wiechmann; Grant and John Ehrismann; Dawson Ehrismann; special niece Rhonda Broski of San Jose, CA; special great-niece Bobbi Davis and husband Brian of San Jose, CA; brother-in-law Vern Ehrismann and wife Kay of MO; sister-in-law Louella Connelly of Napa, CA; and many nieces and nephews.
