Funeral services for Jason McGhee, 45, of Lake Andes were Wednesday, September 1 at the Community Center. Burial was in the Holy Fellowship Episcopal Cemetery in Greenwood. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Jason was the son of Mary Dog Soldier and Wayne McGhee “Flooky”. Grandson of Sophie Archambeau and Ather Dog Soldier died Saturday, August 28, 2021 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Wagner in the presence of his sister Tamara Archambeau. Jason was a younger brother of nine siblings: Tamara Archambeau, Jeffery McGhee Sr, Wayne McGhee Jr, Nancy Dog Soldier/McGhee, Tina cGhee, Sonya Big Eagle, David Big Eagle and Joshua Big Eagle.

Jason grew up in Rapid City. He graduated from high school and moved back to Lake Andes, where he resided for the remainder of his life. He was a caring, loving father of several children whom he loved dearly. He became especially close to his oldest Childe Evan Zephier, Jameson and Jaiden Hopkins. He was an amazing Native American artist. He enjoyed doing crafts and paintings as a hobby. He enjoyed visiting family and friends. He was very encouraging and supportive to all of his relatives. He loved to hang around his little buddy dog “Nino”. He would take him for walks to start occupied and took care of him. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and big smile!
