A Service of Celebration for Janice “Jan” Scorpik, 74, was held Monday, February 26 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church.

Janyce 'Jan' Skorpik, 74, passed away surrounded by those she loved at Ava's Hospice Wednesday, February 21, 2024. Jan was born in Pickstown July 9, 1949, to Anthony and Lavina Skorpik.

She attended Pickstown school and graduated. After attending two years at USD, she entered and graduated from Sioux Valley Radiology. Her career took the path of ultrasonography and she prided herself as performing one of the first ultrasound studies in the state of South Dakota. Sonography was her career, but travel was her hobby. Traveling both domestically and internationally, that “large suitcase” could bring back many souvenirs. She was proud of a magazine article written in a local magazine highlighting herself and three traveling friends.

She always wore a smile and said “yes” to coffee, lunches, and dinner invites. Basketball games, especially tournaments, were her passion. There were also many Twins games, win or lose you had to hope for the playoffs.

Jan is survived by her brother James, three nieces, eight great nieces and nephews, three Godchildren, her aunt and her friend Mary.

She is preceded in death by both parents, grandparents, and a sister-in-law.

In Lieu of flowers kindly consider a contribution to the Pickstown Museum, Our Saviors Lutheran Church, or Ava’s House.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Heritage Funeral Home, Sioux Falls www.heritagesfsd. com
