GLENN CARLSON

Glenn W. Carlson, 78, of Lake Andes, formerly of Chicago, passed away peacefully after valiantly fighting battles with cancer on Friday, October 10, surrounded by his family. He was born in Chicago to the late Ruth (Nee Hellgren) and John W. Carlson.
Glenn will be missed, by his devoted, loving daughter Dr. Joanne Carlson; his granddaughters Theresa, Julia, and grandson Jonathan. He is the brother of the late John (the late Marge) Carlson; uncle of Lisa Straulin, his favorite niece and goddaughter and nephew John Carlson; a special friend of Louie Kipta and the Kipta family; and his beloved chocolate lab Coco.
Glenn graduated from the Chicago Police Academy in 1981 and was proud to become a patrolman in the 23rd District, which is the Wrigleyville area. Glenn worked off duty security at Soldier Field and was assigned to watch the opposing coach, on and off the fields, during the Bears games. He then was promoted to the tactical team and was responsible for narcotics and gang related activities. He retired as a Detective for property crime in Area 4 and was proud to serve and protect the people of Chicago. He then relocated to his dream home of Lake Andes.
Memorial services will be held at East Lake Andes Lutheran Church at 10:30 a.m. on November 8th with burial and a luncheon to follow. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service.
