GERALD CZERNEY

Gerald Czerney, 93, of Wagner was born January 22, 1932 on the river bottom south of Wagner, the son of Margaret Kranig. He died Saturday, August 23, 2025 at the Good Samaritan Society in Tyndall.

Gerald attended rural school. He began farming with his uncle Ed “Dub” Kranig until Dub passed away. In later years he continued to farm the family land until he retired.

Gerald enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. He enjoyed his elk hunting trip to Montana. He had a big garden and loved growing watermelon and muskmelon. Gerald taught his cousin’s kids how to drive and thought of his cousins as his grandkids. He enjoyed visiting with his relatives and checking crops.

Thankful for having shared his life are his cousins: Donna (Gary) Olson of Lake Andes, Jay (Katie) Robertson of Wagner, Kathy (Rick) Leibel of Wagner and Mike (Michelle) Robertson of Wagner and their children.

Gerald was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret, uncles: Melvin, John, Guy, Ray, Harold and Dub Kranig; and aunts, Helen Hyde and Etta Kranig.

Private services were held on Friday, August 29. Burial was in the Wagner Cemetery. Peters Funeral Home of Wagner was in charge of arrangements.
