Funeral Mass for Gary Beeson, 74, of Wagner was held February 16 at the Assumption Catholic Church in Dante. Burial was in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, rural Dante, with military honors. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Gary Dean Beeson was born July 26, 1949 to Delbert and Arlene (Arnson) Beeson in Wagner. Gary passed away February 11, 2024 at the VA Medical Center in Sioux Falls.

Gary attended school until the 8th grade and began to work on the farm. He worked on the family farm until July 31, 1969 when he was drafted for the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged May 7, 1971. Once he returned home, he met and married Charlene (Blaha) August 21, 1972. To this union two children were born, Mark and Steven.

Gary’s life was all about farming. In his later years he loved gardening. Gary was involved in the Cenex as the board president, Dante Feed & Grain co-owner, Knights of Columbus member, State of SD Railroad Board (Napa- Platte), and was a member of the VFW Post 7319. He enjoyed picking up the grandkids so that they would learn to work and not just play ball and taking them on gator rides. Whenever he was in the tractor, he was listening to WNAX.

Thankful for having shared his life are his wife Charlene of Wagner, sons: Mark (Amy) Beeson of Avon and Steven (Jody) Beeson of Wagner; seven grandchildren: Wyatt (Amanda), Kole (Bree Kotab), Morgan (Jacob Potmesil-fiance´), Sophie, Kip, Teddy and Sloan Beeson; two great-grandchildren: Avery and Alyvia, and one on the way; two brothers: Terry (Belinda) and Mike (Norma) Beeson all of Dante; brother-in-law Barry Biggins of Winner; and many nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; sister Connie; grandparents; and aunts and uncles.
