Memorial services for Fran Mensch, 73, of Avon were Monday, October 1 at the First Presbyterian Church in Avon. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Chapel in Avon was in charge of arrangements.

Frances Kay Mensch was born April 14, 1945 to Reinder and Edna (Odeen) Dertien in Geddes. She died unexpectedly at her home in Avon on Thursday, September 27, 2018.

She attended Avon High School and graduated in 1963. Fran married Lyle Mensch and began her life’s journey as a mother and businesswoman. She was a gifted florist who served the local communities for many years doing floral work for holidays, proms, weddings and funerals for multiple generations. Her children brought joy to her life: Kimberly Mensch and husband Kent Holder of Platte Woods, MO, Kate Mensch and husband Mark Tuniewicz of Ensenada, Kris and Mark Cahoy of Avon, and her “favorite” Korey Mensch of Avon.

Fran saw her grandchildren everyday of their lives providing daycare, meals, laundry, cookies and unyielding support for Haden, Erica and Mya. She loved being part of the community and doing everything she could for her family. She had many great friends, she loved to entertain, she traveled and she enjoyed going out for dinner, drinks and sometimes a game of chance.

Fran is survived by her children, her grandchildren, her brother Ron Dertien, many nieces and nephews, and many, many friends.
