Evans “Corky” Kezena, 64, of Wagner died Friday, October 7, 2022 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Wagner. Funeral services were Monday, October 10 at the Greenwood Community Center in Greenwood. Burial was in the Kezena Cemetery, rural Wagner. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Corky was born on June 2, 1958 to Caroline Bruguier and later adopted by Wilfred and Pauline Kezena of Greenwood. Growing up Corky loved fishing and hunting. He also had lots of tricks up his sleeve and lots of laughter. He attended Wagner School until a later date and then earned his GED in Bismarck, ND.

Corky met his wife Bonnie Kazena and they had four children: Josiah (Kelline) Kezena, Faye (Jay) Corey, Steven Kazena and Katrina (Chris) Kazena. Previously before he met Bonnie he had three children: Reva Archambeau, Evans Read and Andrea Kezena-Ostus.

Throughout Corky’s life he loved working at different things. He was a very good mechanic. He worked at Fort Randall Casino, Dakota Boot & Moccasin, Yankton Sioux Tribe along with various odd jobs. His favorite hobbies were fishing, hunting, playing rummy and cribbage. He also grew a big garden every year, not just for his family but for anyone that would stop by. He had a huge heart for everyone.

Corky is survived by his wife Bonnie, his children: Reva, Andrea, Josiah, Faye, Steven and Katrina; his sisters: Katherine, Collette and Lori; his brothers: Daniel and Reynolds; grandchildren; great grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.

Corky is preceded in death by his mother, parents, sisters, brother and relatives.
