Funeral services for Eunice Joseph, 67, of Wagner were held Thursday, March 21 at the YST South Gym in Wagner. Burial was in the Greenwood Presbyterian Cemetery, rural Greenwood. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Eunice Marie Kazena Joseph entered into the spirit world March 16, 2024 at her nephew Gerald’s residence in Wagner. Eunice was born March 18, 1956 in Greenwood to Fred Kazena Sr. and Alice Gullikson. Eunice spent her childhood years in Greenwood with her older brothers and sisters. Her family then moved to Wagner. Eunice attended Wahehe 83 in Greenwood in the 60’s and then Flandreau Indian School where she received her GED.

Eunice lived a great life. She was a wonderful woman that touched countless hearts. She was loved by many and she loved her family dearly. She spent her life just the way she wanted! Eunice worked various jobs, enjoyed playing softball, and throwing darts. Her favorite game of all was 654. She was the 654 Queen. She loved it when family and friends would stop by to visit and check up on her, or even challenged her to a game of 654.

Eunice met Earl Frederick Jr. and together they had four kids: Earl, Dorothy, Gregg and Brenna Frederick. She then met Wilfred Joseph and as the years went on they eventually got married.

Eunice is survived by her children: Earl Frederick III of Mitchell, Dorothy (Desmond) Frederick of Greenwood, Gregg (Galicia) Frederick, and Brenna Frederick of Wagner; brother Robert (Kathy) Kazena of Wagner; sisters Estelle Redlightning of Lake Andes and Colleen (Arlen) Lightfoot of Red Rock, OK; grand babies; great-grand babies; and so many nieces and nephews.

Eunice is preceded in death by her parents Alice and Fred Kazena Sr.; husband Wilfred Joseph; sisters: Dorothy, Violet, and Lillian Kazena; brothers: Fred Jr., Butch, Richard, Lenny, Harold, Edgar, Jake, and Loren Sr.; grand babies: Mackenzie Case, Brycen Day, Jeremias Paul, and many other relatives.

Eunice was so loved and will be missed dearly. Our Beautiful Mother.
