Donna (Carpenter) Crichton was born January 8, 1942 in Wagner. She graduated from Wagner High School with the class of 1960. She later moved to Sioux Falls where she attended schooling at Nettleton’s and Stewart’s where she would graduate with her hair stylist degree. She was united in marriage to Leslie Crichton on June 23, 1961 and they were blessed with two sons, Kevin and Doug. Les and Donna worked at a ceramic shop, and had an industrial kiln in their home. Through the years she also worked as a hair stylist and activities at Covington Heights Nursing Home. She worked at various daycares in Sioux Falls and was able to take care of her grandchildren while they were growing up. Donna was their biggest cheerleader through their lives and various activities.

Donna loved to dance which is where she met her future husband, Jeff Bickel. They were married on February 16, 1991. They have been longtime members of Zion Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. Donna volunteered in so many capacities at church that it would be impossible to list them all. She was also very civically minded with her volunteering and spent countless hours at the Butterfly House, Genealogy Society, and the Old Courthouse Museum among others. Her collection of angels and butterflies is quite extensive. Above all, she loved spending time with her family.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Jeff Bickel of Sioux Falls; sons, Kevin (Lynette) Crichton of Baltic, and Doug (Dee) Crichton of Sioux Falls; five grandchildren, Ashley, Trevor, Royal, Lucas and Lexi Crichton all of Sioux Falls; five great grandchildren, Rebekah, Landen, Lina, Liam and Memphis; and brothers, Edward (Donna) Carpenter of Rapid City and David (Sharon) Carpenter of Oklahoma City, OK.
