Graveside services for Donald R. King, 79, of Lead were held at the Black Hills National Cemetery on Monday, May 6. Military honors were conducted by the Sturgis Volunteer Honor Guard and the US Army National Guard.

Donald Raymond King was born May 23, 1939 in Platte to Lester and Anna (Majerus) King. He proudly served in the US Army for 11 years. After his discharge from the Army, he worked for the Homestake Gold Mine for 41 years. After retiring from Homestake, he worked at the Silverado in Deadwood for eight years.

He leaves behind daughters Larissa, Brenda and Linda; 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; brothers Marcus (Dianne) King, Robert King, David (Vicki) King, all from Platte, Marvin King of Petersburg, Alaska and Ken (Vada) King of Hullett, Wyoming; sisters Jeri (Dale) McAdaragh of Wagner, Phyllis Qualm of Platte and Betty (LaRoy) Lefers of Corsica.

Don was preceded in death by his loving wife Hilda, his parents, a brother Dale and sister Sheila Vanden Bos.
