DeVonne “Kelly” Lee Kjellsen age 77 of Brookings, passed away January 1, 2023 at his home under hospice care.

Celebration of Life Service for DeVonne “Kelly” Lee Kjellsen will be 2:00 PM Saturday, January 7, 2023 at the Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Elisa Brendt McMullen officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Arlington City Cemetery under the direction of Johnson-Henry Funeral Home of Arlington.

DeVonne was born on October 24, 1945 in Volga, SD son of Otto and Rose (Norgaard) Kjellsen. He graduated from high school in Arlington.

He was united in marriage to Janet Pederson on March 24, 1963. To this union, 2 children were born, Todd and Tamara.

DeVonne worked for Northwestern Public Service as a lineman and later on becoming town superintendent in Wagner and Brookings. After 35 years, he retired and moved to Arlington.

He loved to hunt, fish, golf and get together with family and friends.

DeVonne was active in the Fire Department, Labor Day Committee in Wagner and Rotary Club in Brookings.

He is survived by his wife, Janet, son, Todd (Jill) Kjellsen of Armour, daughter, Tamara (Tim) Johannsen of Wagner, 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, brother, Doyle (Karen) and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Marlene Mulholland, Sandra Rohl, Joan Rice, brothers, Dwayne Kjellsen, Darris Kjellsen and several aunts, uncles nieces, nephews and friends.
