DENNIS KRCIL

Dennis L. Krcil of Grimes, IA 72, passed away at home on Sunday, July 18, 2021. Dennis was born March 20, 1949 in Tyndall to Henry and Sylvia (Carda) Krcil. He grew up farming in Dante. He graduated from Avon High School in 1967 and attended Southern State College in Springfield where he attained his Associate’s Degree. He moved to Des Moines, IA in the fall of 1969 and was united in marriage to Carmen Carpenter in 1970. They had two sons Jason and Shaun.

Dennis worked in the IT field starting out as a programmer at Meredith Corporation/EDS and was promoted to management where he continued his career for 30 plus years. He was an honored member of the Who’s Who Worldwide for outstanding leadership achievement receiving awards from 1992-1994. After many years of dedication in the industry, Dennis was able to retire early and move into his role as full time Grandpa.

In his free time he enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing cards with his family and friends. Dennis had a firm belief that there was no such thing as a bad western movie or TV series and he made sure to watch all of them to prove it. He also always looked forward to making the annual family trip to Michigan for the 4th of July for some fun in the sun. Another highlight of retirement was being able to connect with former co-workers for Friday morning breakfast, to reminisce about the good old days. Most of all Dennis enjoyed spending time with his family and beloved grandchildren.

Dennis is survived by his sons, Jason Krcil and Shaun (Kelly) Krcil; five grandchildren, Mila and Layne Krcil, Rhyder Krcil and Reed and Raylynn Knapp; and brothers, Terry Krcil and Tim Krcil. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Sylvia (Carda) Krcil and siblings, Ronald Krcil and Diane Krcil.

The family received friends on Thursday, July 22, at Iles Dunn’s Chapel at 2121 Grand Ave, Des Moines, IA. A Celebration of Life was also held at Dunn’s, followed by a graveside service at Sunny Hill Cemetery in Grimes.

In Dennis’s honor, contributions may be made to the to the family to enhance a college fund for Dennis’s grandchildren.
