Dennis "Denny" James Houseman, 79, died at Avantara Nursing Home in Armour on Friday, November 6, 2020. Funeral service was Wednesday, November 11 at Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Lake Andes with burial following in Lakeview Cemetery in Lake Andes. Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Lake Andes was in charge of arrangements..

Dennis "Denny" James Houseman was born the oldest of seven children to Lloyd and Kathryn (Hansen) Houseman on December 16, 1940 in Armstrong, IA. He was baptized in the Lutheran Church on March 23, 1941. Denny graduated from Lake Andes in 1958, then worked for the dam in Pierre and Chamberlain until enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1963. He was honorably discharged in 1969. Denny married Diane (Ann) Eunice Stone-Houseman on June 1, 1978 in Las Vegas, the couple celebrated 53 years. To their union they had a daughter named Denise (Baby) Marie Houseman. Denny also was a loving father to Gerald David Hart and Loretta (Rose) Hart. Denny drove truck for Hakl's until him and his brother, Roger started Houseman trucking. Denny drove many years working hard for his family until retiring in his 70's. Dennis will be remembered and cherished as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He loved to goose hunt, drive semi, joke and laugh around, and give nicknames. Denny loved to truck with his wife, Diane, son Gerald Hart, along with his daughter Denise and his brothers. He passed on Friday, November 6, 2020 at Avantara Nursing Home in Armour at the age of 79.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of 53 years, Diane (Ann) Eunice Stone-Houseman, daughters, Denise Marie Houseman, Loretta (Rose) Hart, sister, Deanna Houseman, brothers, Johnny Houseman, Roger (Donna Mae) Houseman, and Jimmy (Marcy) Houseman, grandchildren, Daceyann Marie Petrik, Dawson James Petrik, Jenni Hart (Brandon Andrews), Gerri (Eric) Olson, Jayme (Wayne Jr.) Bergin, Brandon, Amy, Ryan, Carson Adema, nine great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law, Debora Hart, and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Gary and Lloyd Housemen, uncles, Walter and Jim Houseman, aunt, Minnie and son, Gerald Hart.
