Dean Joseph Carda, 75, of Wagner died Thursday, April 9, 2020 at his home in Wagner, under Hospice Care. Due to current health concerns, a Memorial Service and celebration of Dean’s life will be held in the future. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner is in charge of arrangements.

Dean J. Carda was born January 16, 1945 at Wagner, the son of Joseph F. And Dorothy M. (Dunsmore) Carda.

Dean graduated from Wagner High School in 1963. He married Patricia White Horse on January 9, 2006, they shared their lives for 35 years. Dean grew up on the farm and worked as a farmhand, a brick tender, in construction, an electrician and a bartender.

Dean was a lifelong member of the Verteran of Foreign Wars and a member of the American Legion. He will be remembered for his gift of gab, love of family, playing with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, fishing, bow hunting, drinking beer, smoking cigarettes and ice cream.

Thankful for having shared his life are his wife Pat, their grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Coty Picotte (Rylee and Cayden) of Yankton; Chalara Picotte (Adiseya and Kyren) of Yankton; Orlando Picotte of Wagner and Mary Wagner (Tyliana, Sylys and Weston) of Arkansas; sisters Connie Pesicka of Wagner, Darlene Busch of Hillsboro, OR; and Eldon (Jerelynn) Carda of Sioux Falls; brother-in-law Bob Breen of Wagner; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dean was preceded in death by his step-sons Larry and Calvin Picotte, parents, sisters Carol Breen and Lona Holzbauer, and brothers-in-law, Tom Pesicka, Gene Busch and Robert Cournoyer, sister-in-law Beverly White Horse, mother-in-law Ruby White Horse and fatherin-law Louie White Horse.
