DARWIN DYKSTRA
Visitation with a scripture service was held for Darwin Dykstra, 86, of Springfield Thursday, June 13 at Peters Funeral Home in Springfield. Burial was in the Emmanuel Reformed Cemetery, rural Springfield. Darwin Dykstra was born April 11, 1938 at Running Water. He passed away June 7, 2024 at Good Samaritan Society in Scotland at the age of 86 years, 1 month, and 24 days. He was the youngest of ten siblings born to Peter and Dora (Vanderlei) Dykstra.
Darwin grew up on the farm helping with the farm. He attended rural school through the 8th grade. He was a recognized marksman at a young age. He later educated himself in TV repair and had his own business. When the business changed he took electronics classes at Southern State College. He worked at different jobs helping farm and also as dispatch for Bon Homme Co. Sheriffs Office for a number of years. He enjoyed genealogy and researching family tree on computers. He also enjoyed photography.
Darwin was a member of the Emmanuel Reformed Church in Springfield. Thankful for having shared his life are his sister Mabel Ludens of Sioux Falls, and many nieces and nephews. Darwin was preceded in death by his four sisters: Annie Odens, Jessie Boersma, Marie Vander Veen, and Ruth Oliver; four brothers Andrew, Jayson, Raymond, and Donald; and his parents Peter and Dora.
