Darrell Powers, Sr., 86, of Wagner, passed away on February 11, 2022, at the Correctionville Specialty Care Nursing Home in Correctionville, IA.

Darrell was born into the Yankton Sioux Tribe in Pine Ridge, SD to Guy “Jack” Powers and Lydia Feather-Kelder on July 5, 1935. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the United State Air Force as a Communications Operator. After his service, he worked as a roofer, worked in construction and worked for the United States Postal Service as a Mail Carrier. His favorite hobbies were going to PowWows, listening to country music, watching football (Bears/ Packers/Cowboys), little league and professional baseball, rodeos, and Molly B’s Polka Dancing.

Darrell was a loving, caring, giving man who loved his culture, his family and most of all his children, unconditionally.

Darrell is preceded in death by his Father Guy “Jack” Powers, Mother Lydia Feather-Kelder; sister, Sandy Vera (Poncho Vera); brothers: Keith “Punchy” Powers (Patricia Powers) and Milton.

Darrell is survived by his daughter Kelly Powers-Kinney (Chuck), son Darrell Powers, Jr. (Roxanne), daughter Nycole Powers-Russell and daughter Angie Powers. He also leaves behind several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at Cedar Presbyterian Church, Thursday February 24, 2022 at 1:30 PM, followed by burial with military honors. Arrangements made by Peters Funeral Home.
