Private services are being held for Cheryl Cournoyer, 60, of Wagner. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Cheri Selwyn-Cournoyer was born in Wagner on January 22, 1959 to Delphine LaPlante-Selwyn and Henry G. Selwyn. She left us peacfully on September 25, 2019 at her home in Wagner under hospice care..

She grew up in Greenwood and attended St. Paul’s/Marty Indian School, where she graduated from in 1977. She enjoyed track and drill team while in school. She also enjoyed hanging out with her friends, making memories in the dorms, and taking care of her baby sister Barb.

She married Frank Cournoyer and born to this union were Faith, Harmony, Franki, Cetan, Wakiyan-Aku and Benjamin. Also Frank “Larry” Cournoyer (stepson), Amber Archambeau (god-child) and Laurie Baker (adopted daughter).

She shared the last five years with her partner, Dale Mapes. They enjoyed driving the river bottom and along Greenwood, through the colony and up around Pickstown. They spent a lot of time camping and being by the river.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Mike, Jim, Billy,Pat,Tommy,Anthony,Tim (Jake) and sister Mary; and children Faith and Wakiyan-Aku.

She is survived by her children: Frank “Larry”, Amber, Laurie, Harmony, Franki, Cetan and Benny; partner Dale; 17 grandchildren, two great grandchildren;brothers:Henry, Frank and Roger and sisters: Kathy and Barb.
