Carmen ‘Irving’ Louise (Smejkal) Hahn of Wagner, was blessed with comfort care on her 63rd birthday and passed away peacefully at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls on August 15th, 2022. Carmen was born August 14th, 1959 in Sioux City, Iowa to Joseph and Myrtle Smejkal (Thornton). She grew up on a farm south of Wagner, the youngest of five kids.

She was an extra in the Clint Eastwood movie Every Which Way But Loose, worked on the Strontia Springs Dam in the Rocky Mountains, saw the Doobie Brothers at the Red Rocks Amphitheater and crossed the Golden Gate Bridge hanging out the passenger window. She loved people, had many dear friends and will be remembered for her laugh and love for adventure.

Carmen was preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Myrtle (Thornton) Smejkal, great grandparents Ray and Verna (Chase) Thornton, granddaughter Anjel Leah and cousin Renee Frick.
