Brenda Williams, 61, of Lake Andes died Friday, October 16, 2020 at Ava’s House in Sioux Falls. Wake services began Saturday at the White Swan Community Center in Lake Andes. Graveside services were held at the Native American Church Cemetery, rural Wagner Tuesday, October 20. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Brenda Lee Dion-Williams was born May 18, 1959 in Wagner to Dwight Dion, Sr. and Lolita Cook-Dion. She has two sisters: Autumn and Jackie; and three brothers: Lyle Sr., Dwight and Isaac.

Brenda married James Bruguier and had three boys: Mahlon Sr., James Jr. and Joseph. Later on she married Kenneth Williams Sr.

Brenda enjoyed many things throughout her life. In her teenage years she was a high school cheerleader, loved to barrel race with her horse Sandy and was amazing at playing second base and shortstop. She received her GED, went into nursing school and also pursued hairstyling.

Brenda had an amazing personality, full of love and light. She always welcomed everyone into her home, feeding them if they were hungry and giving them a place to stay. She was the life of the party and loved to laugh.

Brenda is survived by her sons: Mahlon Sr. and James; her grandson Mahlon Jr.; her brothers: Lyle Sr. and Dwight Jr.; her sisters: Autumn and Jacqueline and many relatives.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents Dwight and Lolita, her brother Isaac, her son Joseph and other relatives and friends.
