Funeral Mass for Ann Marie Otte was held Thursday, June 17 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Lake Andes. Burial was in St. Mark’s Catholic Cemetery, Lake Andes. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Ann Marie Otte, 85, of Lake Andes, passed away Monday, June 14, 2021 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Wagner. She was born at the family home on May 27, 1936 to Ed and Anne (Hayek) Carda.

Ann lived in California for a brief time, then came back to Lake Andes in 1946, graduating from Ravinia High School in 1954.

Ann married Louis Otte on November 24, 1955 in Lake Andes at St. Mark’s Catholic Church. Their union was blessed with five children. They began their life in Ohio and returned to South Dakota and resided in Lake Andes, then Platte, and returned to the Lake Andes area where they owned and operated a dairy farm.

Ann will be remembered for being a baker, including being the best apple bar maker, and for her strawberry jelly. She would also have a wide variety of Christmas goodies. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting and was a great seamstress for her family. Ann enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening, her flowers and strawberry patch. In her spare time, she was a sports fanatic. She loved following the Minnesota Vikings, the Twins, and watching ESPN. Ann especially loved following her son’s racing, she was 9er7 biggest fan.

Thankful for having shared her life are her husband Louis of Lake Andes, children: Nancy (Curtis) Price of Aurora, Susan (David) Florey of Lennox, John (Melody) Otte of Ravinia and Gerald (Jaime) Otte of Worthing; ten grandchildren: Doyle (Nicolle) Price, Wyatt (Ally) Price, Kristin Florey, Shawn Florey, Jacquelyn (Trevor) Deurmier, Luke, Beau, Brooke, Brandon and Preston Otte; four great grandchildren: Dawson, Kyler and Paisley Price, and Jackson Deurmier; brother Harold (Pat) Carda of Hermosa; and sister Judie (Ron) Dilts of Wagner.

Ann was preceded in death by her son Tim Otte in 1984, her father Ed Carda in 1987 and mother Ann Carda in 2012.
