Funeral services for Anita Packard, 73, of Wagner were Tuesday, March 26 at the Ihanktonwan Oyate Community Center in Marty. Burial was in Holy Fellowship Episcopal Cemetery, rural Greenwood. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Anita Marie Packard was born March 1, 1946 in Greenwood, the daughter of Evangeline LeClaire and Melvin Bruguier. Anita passed on peacefully at her home in Marty on Saturday, March 23, 2019.

Anita attended Flandreau Indian School and graduated as Valedictorian in 1965. She worked at various Rosebud and Yankton Sioux entities. She was at the Fort Randall Casino for over 15 years. Her smile and greetings will be missed at the FRC Giftshop the most, that’s where she was until her passing.

Anita’s hobbies included: fishing, making star quilts, she played softball in her younger years along with her brothers and sisters, collecting Elvis memorabilia, she also enjoyed watching the New York Yankees and Green Bay Packers play, along with her soaps.

Anita had ten children: Arthur, Byron, Melvin (deceased), Michelle, Todd, Maria, Baby Anita (deceased), Jeremy, Sarah and John Jr. Anita had 44 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Anita leaves behind her husband of 27 years, John Packard Sr., whom she met seven years before their marriage.
